Doctrines Of Deception

Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
Popular Deceptions:
Below we open up the Scriptures to dispel any doubt as to the accuracy of God's Word as we address these deceptions below.

1. Tradition more important than the Word of God-the Bible

2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Matthew 15:8-9: This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Mark 7:6-9: He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.  Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

2. Immortality of the soul or a person does not really die when they die

Genesis 2:17: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 3:4: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.

Here is the lie that has been perpetuated down through the ages by Satan and accepted into many a religion including Christianity.

Ecclesiastes 9:5: For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Ezekiel 18:20: The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

3. Sinful human beings forgiving the sins of other sinful human beings

Luke 5:21: And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Romans 5:12: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Timothy 2:5: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

4. Persons giving themselves the title of: father, holiness, most holy, reverend etc.

Psalms 111:9: He sent redemption unto His people: He hath commanded His covenant for ever: holy and reverend is His name.

Matthew 23:9: And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Luke 18:19: And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou Me good? none is good, save One, that is, God.

Hebrews 7:26 For such an High Priest became us, Who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.

5. We don't have to obey God's 10 Commandments, because we are not under the law but under grace

Matthew 5:17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

John 14:15: If ye love Me, keep My commandments.

Romans 6:14-15: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Romans 7:7: What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.1 John 2:4: He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

6. Secret Rapture

Those who are deceived, do so by taking a text here or there, taking it out of context and not comparing scripture with scripture. There is nothing secret about the return of Jesus and those who are saved will all meet the Lord in the air. No one is going before the other.

Luke 17:36: Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-16: But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep

2 Peter 3:10: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Note: The text "thief in the night" applies to those who are "not ready" and therefore will be surprised, however, the rest of the text shows great noise and the elements being dissolved.

7. Tongue Tied - Misinterpretation of Speaking In Tongues as recorded in the book of Acts

Those who are deceived choose to stop reading a chapter when convenient and thus make up a whole new doctrine, when the student should be reading the "whole chapter" to gain a proper understanding and context of what Paul says in Acts.

Acts 2:1-11: And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This is where the person stops reading and is deceived by Satan in thinking that "tongues is some gibberish language no one understands. READ ON...

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

The Gospel is for edifying God's children. No one can "edify" another if they cannot understand what a teacher of the Gospel is saying. Amen!

8. Jesus is not God

Exodus 3:14: And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 8:58: Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

John 20:28: And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Revelation 22:13: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
